Orangeries in Nottingham

Bespoke orangery extensions will add timeless appeal, living space and an amazing focal point for your home. These ample structures are built using more traditional building methods and can be designed to match the look of your existing property with pitched or flat roof options.

What is an Orangery

An orangery is essentially a cross between a conservatory and an extension, giving you all the benefits of a brickwork aesthetic combined with superior light and space and they tend to have a flat roof. The brickwork and glazing options used allow for a seamless integration with your home and will let in lots of natural light.

Due to their brickwork, bespoke orangeries have a more solid feel, yet they still offer the views of a conservatory with a meticulous finish to each and every panel.

What is the difference between an Orangery and Conservatory?

An orangery is a type of home extension that features a glass roof covering less than 75% of the total roof area, and glass walls that make up less than 50% of the overall wall area. In contrast, a conservatory is a home extension with a glass roof that typically covers at least 75% of the overall roof area, and glass walls that constitute at least 50% of the total wall area.

Orangery Roof Options

As well as traditional style orangeries, we also offer LivinRoom and Loggia orangery roofs.

LivinRoom orangeries feature a typical conservatory flat roof that incorporates a plastered and fully insulated solid pelmet. Loggia orangeries use a modern building system that incorporates specialist columns, glazed units to let in natural light, and an insulated orangery roof to create a true alternative to a traditional conservatory.

Uses for an Orangery

Orangeries are a bright and airy space, guaranteed to bring you and your family a wealth of joy for many years to come. A modern orangery is an affordable way to add valuable living space to your home. Whether you want an orangery living room, kitchen extension, home office, extra space for the kids, or a home gym, an orangery installed by Nottingham Conservatories can be used all year round..

The history of the Orangery

Orangeries originated in Italy as part of the Renaissance gardens, built against garden walls separate from the main house. Orangeries were built from the finest brick and stone available at the time, used at the base to support the heavy glass panes.

Originally used to shelter citrus fruit trees from harsh weather in the 17th century and 19th century, whilst still being able to be flooded with natural light. Orangeries nowadays are the connection from your home to your garden and modern orangeries still hold a level of beauty any homeowner would dream of owning to provide an extra layer of detail to their living area, whilst enhancing the existing architectural style of a property.

Their incorporation of a glazed lantern roof allows for beautiful airy daylight to flood in, but the surrounding deck also offers the possibility to include lighting fixtures; making orangeries the perfect option for lazing at any time of day.

Are Orangeries Secure?

In a word, yes! Our windows use a Twin Sliding Locking system (TSL) that features a bi-directional, dual espagnolette for maximum protection. Along with the TSL system, we offer Yale security products. This worldwide name in security offers enhanced resistance against forced entry. We can also fit all of our windows with hinge protectors at the back of the sash.

In addition to our highly secure windows, all our products have been thoroughly tested to common burglary methods!
